Serie TV / Thriller / Movistar+
Tomás, an eccentric and unsociable high school teacher, is the only witness to the murder of Amparo Seoane, the powerful and controversial mayor of Cedeira. At a critical moment in his life – after being diagnosed with ALS – Tomás becomes obsessed with the investigation and finds in it an opportunity – possibly the last – to live a story like the ones he loves to read and, ultimately, a reason to live.
Throughout the three seasons of the series, he will have allies who will become his second family: Maite, the Civil Guard sergeant in charge of the case, with whom he establishes a very peculiar love/hate relationship; and later, Tacho, a juvenile delinquent who, thanks to Tomás and Maite, will live an experience that will put him back in his life.
After two seasons of Hierro, we wanted a change. We wanted to explore new spaces, new characters, new conflicts. And we decided to do it at home. A lot of fiction has been filmed here, in Galicia in recent years, but there are still many places to discover and one that we were really looking forward to is that area in the northwest called Ferrolterra. An area occupied by a city full of contrasts such as Ferrol and its spectacular surroundings: the estuaries, the forests, the mountains, and towns such as Cedeira, with its monumental Serra da Capelada, where horses continue to run wild next to the highest cliffs in continental Europe. It is in this environment where we decided to develop this new story of mystery, crimes that hit a community and secrets to be revealed.
Thriller gives us the opportunity to explore the dark side of human beings, the impulses that can lead us to commit horrible acts. It raises questions about our own nature and about the consequences of violence. And it offers us a wonderful magnifying glass to look at ourselves as a society and make an portrait of what we are. Here and now.
To create that portrait, we reunited the same crew from Hierro – not only the creative team, but almost the whole technical crew. And we surrounded ourselves with an impressive cast headed by Javier Cámara -a brilliant guy with an absolutely extraordinary talent-, by Mónica López -with whom we had already worked on Hierro and who brings a unique mix of humanity, strength and vulnerability to her characters- and Darío Loureiro -an actor with a charm that exudes talent and kindness from every pore of his skin-. Along with them, a large number of actresses and actors such as Lucía Veiga, Berta Ojea, Mabel Rivera, Ricardo de Barreiro, Tito Asorey, Adrián Ríos, Iria Sobrado, Xabier Estévez, Carlos Blanco, Fede Pérez, Evaristo Calvo, Melania Cruz, Fran Lareu, Sabela Arán, Cristian Castaño, Mercedes Sampietro, Miguel de Lira, Aida Oset, Diego Anido, Eva Barreiro… among many others who, with their talent and commitment, gave life to memorable characters and made this trip a real pleasure.
