Anyone can have a bad day. Mabel has it when, driven by a rage directly proportional to the displeasure of discovering that her husband is cheating on her, she starts to get into a fistfight with him in mid-flight. Who would have thought that this small moment of lack of control would end up triggering the biggest personal disaster of her life. A disaster that will lead her not only to lose her husband, but also her job and what until now she considered a “normal” life. Because before, when you screwed up, the shame was as fleeting as the memory of the eyewitnesses, if there were any. But now, when you fuck up, there is the added risk of someone recording it and uploading it to the internet. And there you are lost, because your embarrassment multiplies and becomes eternal. That’s what it’s like to go viral, like Mabel.
Accompanying our protagonist in the whirlwind of her virality was a joy for all of us who participated in this film. We experienced her stresses and follies, but also her moments of enjoyment and even partying (because it’s true that luck doesn’t smile on her in our story, but her friends are cool and that’s always worth a world) …. We laughed and were moved by this Mabel, whom Blanca Suárez brought to life with a precious truth and tenderness (what a pleasure it is when someone is able to laugh at herself as Blanca does here). And not only with her, but with all the human fauna that surrounds her. From her friends (Cristina Gallego and Esperanza Guardado are in a pure state of grace) to the bunch of uncles who make her life impossible: her father and her brother (those immense Miguel Rellán and Daniel Fez who you don’t know whether to hug or wring their necks); that curious guy called Berto played by the great Enric Auquer (yes, one of the best actors in this country, who is also particularly nice here. .. the guy has it all) and, of course, that husband we want to hate but in the end, thanks to Nico Furtado (that actor with such a great talent that he crosses the Atlantic back and forth) we understand why Mabel doesn’t end up killing him.
SYNOPSIS:
Mabel becomes an unwitting viral sensation during a flight to Tahiti. Unlocking her sleeping husband’s phone in search of something innocent, she stumbles across evidence of his infidelity. In the middle of the plane, she unleashes a confrontation that leads to panic and an emergency landing. Back in Madrid, she finds that her life has changed drastically. She is now known as the #crazyplanelady all over the world, costing her job, personal relationships, home and privacy. Mabel struggles to regain what she has lost, but discovers that being viral has its unique challenges.
